Experts on nuclear fusion in R&D Center.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in collaboration with the Government of the Russian Federation and supported by the State Corporation “Rosatom” organized in St. Petersburg, 13-18 October 2014 jubilee XXV International Conference on Fusion Energy (FEC 2014), which was attended by more than 840 delegates from 39 countries. The holding of this conference in Russia coincided with the 60th anniversary of the commencement of operation of the first nuclear power plant in the world in Obninsk, which gave the first industrial current on June 27, 1954.

During the conference on October 15 was held a technical tour for the participants in the laboratories of Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute investigated controlled thermonuclear fusion on a unique Tokamak “Globus M” setup and produced the measuring equipment for an international program of the first experimental fusion reactor ITER. Also the guests got acquainted with the work to improve the coversion efficiency of solar cell modules based on amorphous and microcrystalline silicon, which are carried out in R&D Center.
