Russia’s largest PV cell and module manufacturer Hevel Group commissioned in the southern Ural region Bashkortostan 10 MW solar plant backed by an 8 MW battery storage system.

The solar-plus-storage facility will be operated as stand-alone PV system connected to the grid. The new plant was constructed in Burzyan municipality (Bashkortostan region) with more than 16000 population. The long-distance transport of electricity is facilitated through a 100-km single-circuit transmission line with a one-end substation. The hybrid solar plant is designed to improve the larger grid’s resilience and will switch to stand-alone mode in an emergency power outage.

“This is the first utility-scale solar-plus-storage project in Russia that provides up to 80 percent of energy consumption in one municipality, improving power supply quality for households, hospitals and schools,” told CEO of Hevel Group Igor Shakhray.
